Machine Vision innovator DVT Corp is to set enter the semiconductor market with the Q2 launch of its new wafer reader The new product, competitive at just $4995, is the first result of DVT's summer 2004 acquisition of MTI Machine Vision, combining its world-class algorithm library with DVT's broad range of smart camera-based, general purpose vision systems

"The collaboration of DVT's machine vision expertise with MTI's world-class algorithm library, has resulted in a wafer reading product line that will be the most robust OCR and decoding product offering in the vision industry", said Chris Pitt, who was recently appointed UK Director of Business Development.

By seeing, reading, recording, and responding to industry-standard wafer identification, the DVT wafer reader provides the product traceability and real-time validation that manufacturers require throughout the fabrication process.

Integrated lens and lighting provides the flexibility required to read code consistently throughout the various stages of production, and that subject the wafer to changes in appearance such as contrast and colour.

DVT plans to offer the wafer reader at an introductory price of just US $4995.

The release is planned during the second quarter of 2005.

DVT is a global leader in general purpose machine vision systems and offers the widest range of smart camera products in the industry.

DVT invented the Smart Camera in 1990, introduced Ethernet capability in 1998, produced the first mega-pixel high resolution camera in 2001, and developed the SpectroCam in 2002, the first smart camera to use a prismatic system for extremely precise colour measurements.

DVT recently launched the extreme speed 55x series, with a 4000MIPS DSP, and the 510 fully functioning camera at less than GBP 2000.

DVT is also the only machine vision company that offers free training, free technical support, and free software updates.

Small enough to fit in the palm of the hand, DVT SmartImage cameras are simply nodes on a network that acquire and process data to robotics and motion controllers, report inspection results for QA and deliver part tracking and inventory control.

Using standard Ethernet communications, SmartImage cameras support TCP/IP, Modbus/TCP and EtherNet/IP.

Profibus and DeviceNet are supported with the optional SmartLink module.

These self contained inspection systems provide a visual data source with low connectivity costs, high speeds, seamless data exchange throughout the smart factory enterprise and enhanced tools to support automation locally and worldwide.
