The non-contact, multi-sensor Smartscope Vantage from OGP can accurately measure a magnified image of a component using video and edge detection techniques.

The non-contact Smartscope Vantage from OGP can accurately measure a magnified image of a component using video and edge detection techniques The Vantage is multi-sensor device capable of deploying video, laser and Renishaw probing in a single measurement routine

For instance, it can measure complex and miniaturised features on a component using a combination of zoom optics and video analysis, automatically scan surface profiles using an inbuilt laser sensor and go on to measure 3D features using a Renishaw touch probe.

All these sensors work within the same axis system, are programmed from a single software source and are automatically deployed by the machine without operator intervention.

Measurements are quicker and more accurate than by using several measuring devices plus guage capability.

It reduces operator training because all measurements are called from the one software interface.

Multi-sensors systems are most successful when the additional probes are integrated onto a video based non-contact machine.

These machines already incorporate and control lighting, have optical clarity, use edge detection algorithms and have 3D measurement software, so the addition of a laser or Renishaw probe is less of a problem.
