Eastern Contracting has been awarded a schedule rate contract by GPU Power UK (Midlands Electricity) to carry out network improvements to its 11KV overhead lines in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

Eastern Contracting has been awarded a schedule rate contract by GPU Power UK (Midlands Electricity) to carry out network improvements to its 11KV overhead lines in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire The one year project, worth £1.8m with a possible extension after one year, currently establishes Eastern Contracting as sole 11KV overhead line contractor for GPU Power UK

Eastern Contracting was awarded the contract following the successful completion of several reconductoring and refurbishment schemes for GPU Power UK at Priestweston in Powys, and Bloxham in Oxfordshire, earlier this year.

Eastern Contracting originally became involved with GPU Power UK last August, where, following a competitive tender involving 14 companies, Eastern Contracting was awarded four of the eight contracts available.

The company carried out refurbishment and reconductoring work, worth a combined ?400,000, in the Worcestershire, Telford, Ironbridge Gorge and Peak District areas.

In turn we were able to progress the relationship through the appointment of further contracts.".
