An EAL product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 31, 2006

Candidates can register on level three NVQ or SVQ in engineering toolmaking.

Candidates can register on EAL's level three NVQ or SVQ in engineering toolmaking.

The qualification is suitable for advanced apprentices and adult employees seeking recognition for high levels of skill, knowledge and understanding, commensurate with full craft status, in: toolmaking; toolroom NC and CNC machining; mould, tool and die equipment maintenance; jig and fixture manufacture; and toolroom manual machining.

The NVQ comprises three mandatory units and optional units determined by the chosen path.

EAL provides support, advice and guidance to centres wishing to deliver the qualification and to each candidate registering.

Product Development Manager Michael Turpin said: "Toolmaking is an important discipline where the achievement and recognition of high standards is paramount".

"We have consulted widely with employers and training providers to ensure that this qualification reflects current working practices and is what the engineering sector needs".
