BP chemicals came to EAO for help in specifying and designing state-of-the-art controls for its central command centre at Saltend, UK.

This centre was designed to consolidate the controls of ten individual chemical process plants into one type of shutdown system.

Along with the new quad screens consoles, a shutdown panel for each of the plants had to be designed.

One of the aims of the new central control room was to standardise controls and procedures, so each of the plant's shutdown panels had to be built using the same components.

EAO's Series 04 flush-mounted pushbuttons and key switches were selected.

The Series 04, a modular switching system with many possible combinations, was chosen for its functionality, illumination and stylish looks.

EAO's reputation for supplying quality equipment on which BP could depended was also extremely influential.

EAO's protective switch cover range, as used in the BP application, is suitable for many applications where accidental operation must be prevented.

These aluminium covers are available in a range of colours in 22.5 or 30mm mounting dimensions and can be used in conjunction with illuminated pushbuttons.

The control rooms now operate under a single roof, with the safe knowledge that the shutdown systems can be brought into play at the press of a button.
