Capenhurst-based power engineering specialist EA Technology has celebrated its first 40 years with a visit from its first director, Dr Trevor Churchman.

Capenhurst-based power engineering specialist EA Technology has celebrated its first 40 years with a visit from its first director, Dr Trevor Churchman.

Since 1966, the company has evolved from a publicly owned research and development centre for the UK electricity industry into one of the world's leading experts in effective management of electricity assets, with customers from China to California.

Dr Churchman was one of the leading figures in the creation of the Electricity Council Research Centre, which was rebranded as EA Technology in 1991 as part of the privatisation of Britain's electricity sector.

EA Technology is now a fully independent commercial company with a global reputation for innovative products and services which lead to more effective management of power assets.

In addition to the electricity industry itself, it has a growing range of clients in industries including petrochemical, rail and food production.

Current Managing Director Robert Davis said: "The anniversary was an opportunity to appreciate how much we owe to Dr Churchman and his colleagues".

"Their commitment to technical excellence and creative engineering will continue to provide the foundations for our success in highly competitive world markets over the next 40 years".

EA Technology's 95 staff, who now own 87% of the company, celebrated the event with lunch at Hoole Hall followed by an evening at the races.
