Discharge simulator aids test training
Novel test source helps train personnel to detect, locate and measure partial discharge activity in HV and MV assets.
EA Technology has launched an instrument to help train personnel to detect, locate and measure partial discharge (PD) activity in HV and MV assets.
Called the PD Test Source, it works by generating TEV emissions, which accurately reproduce effects found in assets such as switchgear and transformers when PD activity is present.
The unit may be placed in a variety of locations to simulate real-life PD problems.
EA Technology's Colin Vickers said: "The test source is very simple to set up and enables engineers to be trained to use PD instruments in a wide range of scenarios, in a safe and controlled environment".
The PD Test Source is designed for use with EA Technology's full range of PD measurement tools, including the UltraTEV Detector, UltraMET, PD Locator and PD Monitor.
