CLP Power Hong Kong has become the third company to be named as a Global Technology Leader by international power engineering specialist EA Technology.

CLP Power Hong Kong has been named a Global Technology Leader by international power engineering specialist EA Technology.

CLP Power is only the third company in the world to receive the award, which is for exceptional performance and efficiency in the management of power assets.

The previous winners were Singapore's SP PowerGrid and the Al Ain Distribution company (AADC) of Abu Dhabi.

Robert Davis, Managing Director of UK-based EA Technology, said: "CLP Power is a worthy winner of the award because of the quality of its engineering and management, and the company's commitment to continuous improvement in all of its operations".

"CLP Power is one of the world's leaders in adopting new techniques for managing and maintaining assets, based on accurate measurement of their actual condition, rather than fixed time schedules".

"The company's outstanding performance clearly demonstrates the benefits of this approach, in terms of greater network reliability, efficiency and safety, with lower operating costs".

Paul Poon, Director, Power Systems of CLP Power, said: "We are very honoured to be awarded and recognised internationally for the excellence in power technology".

"The robustness of our power systems has been one of the very important factors contributing to our world-class supply reliability".

"We will continue to invest in and apply innovations and state of the art technologies in our power systems to strive for an even higher performance level".

CLP Power operates a vertically integrated electricity supply business in Hong Kong, serving over 5.5 million people in its supply area.

CLP Power's assets include a high voltage network of some 13,000km and an installed generating capacity of 8,888MW.

CLP Power is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CLP Holdings Limited, one of the largest investor-owned power businesses in Asia.
