HMS Clyde has been constructed using around GBP 200,000 worth of valves supplied by Leicester based valve specialist Econosto UK.

HMS Clyde, the first complete ship to be built in Portsmouth's Naval Base for nearly 40 years, has been constructed using around GBP 200,000 worth of valves supplied by Leicester based valve specialist Econosto UK Econosto's client, VT Shipbuilding, moved to GBP 50 million state-of-the-art facilities in 2003 and the recent launch of the Royal Navy's new 80m offshore patrol vessel helicopter (OPVH), marks the revival of shipbuilding in Portsmouth since the launch of HMS Andromeda in May 1967

Econosto supplied all the valves used in the construction, with the majority going into the utility areas of the vessel.

Simon Lawrence, Econosto's Sales Manager, attended the recent VIP launch event along with leading figures from the RN and defence industry and around 1000 specially invited guests and VT employees.

He said: "It was an inspiring evening which made me proud and honoured to be part of the supply chain".

"A wonderfully patriotic occasion, which can only lead to future successes for VT and add to their fine shipbuilding reputation".
