Distributor targets SE waste management market

An Edbro product story

Edbro is expanding its fast-growing waste management activities in the South East of England with the appointment of Priden Engineering as a main distributor for the Edbro lightweight Rolatip power hooklift systems and Rolatarp powered sheeting systems for waste collection vehicles.

"The waste management market in the UK is worth approximately 5 billion GBP, and is getting more sophisticated all the time", said Ivan Moden, director of Priden Engineering.

"It is a new business opportunity for us, but one we are eminently qualified for, as many of the skills that we have gained over the years of fitting pneumatic discharge equipment for animal feed and coal are transferable to this market".

"The combination of Edbro's Rolatip and Rolatarp systems and our mobile contract maintenance facilities means that we offer the fastest, most reliable and well supported package to waste management operators; one that can make a real difference to their levels of productivity and, hence, their profitability".

Supporting Ivan Moden's claim is the fact that Edbro's hooklift and powered sheeting system is believed to be the fastest package of its type for use in waste management, providing faster turnarounds and improved productivity for operators.

The Rolatip hooklift system is lighter, 30% faster in operation, and offers improved payloads compared with competitive systems.

It employs a patented roller lift mechanism, which greatly improves the lifting effect of the hydraulic lift cylinders.

The major benefit of this is twofold: smaller cylinders can be used, which reduces weight; and less effort is required to "roll on and off" the container, due to the increased leverage generated via the lift mechanism.

Complementing the Rolatip system for faster, more efficient and all round safer operation, the Rolatarp sheeting system offers the benefits of lightweight construction and speed of operation, which means improved productivity, with more trips per day than manual sheeting systems.

In addition, Rolatarp has a unique action, which lifts and lowers the sheet over, rather than pulling the cover across the load.

As a result, it is less prone to damage from projections above the height of the container.

Moreover, when the sheet cover is retracted, the Rolatarp side arms stow horizontally below the level of the container.

This avoids any possibility of damage when lifting on misaligned containers.

"The Edbro package of products that we offer the waste management industry is an excellent one", said Ivan Moden.

"However, our commitment to the industry doesn't end there".

"To support our customers, we operate a contract maintenance service, with mobile workshops and a nationwide spares delivery service that now employs in excess of 50 personnel at a two-acre site in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire".
