An Edmund Optics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 3, 2009

Edmund Optics has introduced the GigE CMOS machine vision cameras, featuring an adjustable frame rate via binning, sub-sampling or AOI.

The cameras are packaged in an ultra-compact housing, making them ideal for use in locations that may have previously been accessible.

Edmund Optics' GigE CMOS machine vision cameras are equipped with a variety of features that are designed to make machine vision easy.

Each camera includes a software interface that allows users to set up a specified area of interest (AOI), gain, exposure time, frame rate, trigger delay and even digital output (flash) delay and duration.

The easy-to-use camera allows the user to set the exposure, gain and white balance to a specified level or the user can allow the camera to adjust these parameters automatically.

The camera's software allows the user to capture still images in JPEG and Bitmap file format or video in AVI format.

The software also can perform edge enhancement, image mirroring and image binning, in the vertical directions, as well as hot pixel correction.

The camera includes software, Direct Show (WDM), Active X and Twain drivers as well as SDK documentation.

A universal power supply, which is required for operation, features a 1.8m-long cable terminating in a six-pin Hirose connector.

It includes detachable power plugs for use in the US, Australia, Europe, UK and Korea.

The power supply has an input of 100-240V with 1.0A maximum and 50-60Hz operation.

Output is +12V and 2.0A with a maximum output power of 24W.

GigE cables, which are required for operation, and capture cards are also available.

Edmund Optics' GigE CMOS machine vision cameras are available in both mono and colour models.
