The next version of NX will natively support Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition on HP Personal Workstations enabled with Intel EM64T or AMD64 processors.

The next version of the NX digital product development software from UGS will natively support Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition on HP Personal Workstations enabled with Intel EM64T or AMD64 processors The sophisticated implementation will allow customers to deploy HP workstations in an environment that enables 64bit NX applications while simultaneously running existing 32bit applications

"UGS and HP have had a close working relationship for more than 17 years with a mutual goal of ensuring that we deliver the highest quality and best performance products to our customers as quickly as possible and then back them up with world-class support", said Chris Kelley, Vice President, UGS Partner Programme.

"Today's announcement will enable our NX customers to realise improvements in a variety of processor-intensive tasks such as large assembly manipulation, complex product design, advanced engineering analysis and simulation and multi-axis tool path generation".

"And they can take advantage of all this while continuing to run their 32bit office applications on 64bit enabled workstations".

With more than a decade of experience delivering 64bit code on Unix and delivering 32bit code on Windows, both UGS and HP give customers access to a support team capable of responding quickly to their needs.

In order to maintain the highest level of support for UGS customers, HP has dedicated on-site resources at UGS facilities to provide rapid certification and workstation support.

"HP continues our commitment to providing UGS customers powerful, industry-leading solutions that enhance their product development processes", said Jim Zafarana, Vice President and Worldwide Marketing Manager, Workstation Global Business Unit, HP.

"HP has more experience with UGS applications on 64bit than any other platform provider and more than 10 years of 64bit operating experience".

"By leveraging our rich knowledge and proven workstation technology, HP offers UGS customers a seamless implementation path for their 64bit application while protecting their 32bit environment".

UGS applications running on HP Personal Workstations with the Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition offers several benefits: a robust platform that enables the next generation of high-performance computing for 64bit native applications and can deliver more data per clock cycle, making them run faster and more efficiently; support for up to 16Gbyte of RAM and 16Tbyte of virtual memory, enabling applications to easily manipulate large data sets; a rich platform to integrate 64bit technical applications and existing 32bit business applications provide customers with the ability to move to 64bit computing without having to sacrifice their existing investment in 32bit software and Windows expertise; and support for multicore and multiprocessing capabilities for maximum performance and scalability.

Testing has demonstrated that some NX functions will run up to 50% faster in a multicore environment, offering significant benefits for many complex applications found in the automotive, aerospace and consumer products industries.

UGS' support for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition will be available with the next release of NX scheduled to begin shipping in the fourth quarter of this year.

UGS customers can upgrade to a 64bit platform today via HP upgrade programmes.
