EnerSys (formerly Yuasa) Motive Power Group has released a new flooded battery that increases operational efficiency while reducing overall maintenance costs.

The Deserthog battery, which is the newest addition to EnerSys' Exide Ironclad flooded battery family, is ideal for medium to heavy-duty motive power applications such as sit down riders, pallet jacks, and narrow-aisle trucks where sealed batteries are not desired, but where reduced maintenance is required.

The battery is designed to hold up to four inches of water.

This added water reserve is up to 132% greater than similar batteries, reducing watering intervals from once a week to as little as four times a year to substantially decrease a lift truck's downtime.

The battery uses EnerSys' proven flooded technology, which ensures greater long-term reliability than sealed technology while still offering reduced maintenance.

The Deserthog comes with an optional five-year watering program.

The program includes all watering maintenance, performed on-site by EnerSys, which frees users from worrying about battery watering, thus reducing internal maintenance costs.

Additionally, the Deserthog, combined with an optional watering program, can provide up to a 26% reduction in life-cycle costs versus a comparable sealed battery.

The new Deserthog is available in three heights: the E85D is 23in, the E100D is 26in, and the E125D is 31in.

All of the batteries feature a flip-top vent cap for easy accessibility, reducing watering times up to 50%.

An optional battery-watering monitor for quick water level checks is also available.

Standard specific gravity for the series is 1290.

Pricing for an E85D Deserthog starts at $1509 each.

Delivery is 2 weeks ARO.
