A new line of valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries is claimed to offer superior performance while occupying less space than conventional standby power batteries.

The new EnerSys Datasafe HR series of high rate discharge batteries are ideal for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and other applications that require maximised space usage combined with high energy density.

Threaded brass post inserts provide maximum conductivity and ease of installation; positive and negative grids are constructed of lead-calcium-tin alloy for long life and efficient recharge.

The batteries use proven gas recombinant VRLA technology that minimises gas evolution during charging and discharging, allowing battery installation in cabinets or on stands in a variety of environments such as a computer room to maximise space utilisation.

The gas recombinant technology also eliminates the need for watering, reducing maintenance costs.

The Datasafe HR batteries are designed with safety in mind: flame retardant ABS case material with ribbed thick walls and lids provide protection against shock and vibration, flame arrestors are built in to each cell, and covers are bonded to containers using a leak-proof heat seal.

Absorbed glass mat (AGM) separators completely absorb the electrolyte, so there is no free acid to leak if the battery case is accidentally damaged.

The batteries also meet critical industry standards including UL approval, IATA certification for air transport, and US DOT classification for non-spillable batteries.

Constant power discharge ratings at room temperature for the Datasafe HR205, HR300, HR330, HR400 and HR500 are 204, 284, 330, 381 and 506W/cell at the 15min rate (1.67 end voltage/unit).

Each battery features a 12V monoblock design with an operating temperature range from 0 to 40C.

Optional lifting handles are also available.

The Datasafe HR batteries are one of the Hawker product lines acquired by EnerSys as part of the purchase of the Energy Storage Products Group of Invensys in March of 2002.

Pricing for an HR205 Datasafe battery starts at $180 each.

Delivery is 4 weeks ARO.
