Marine battery offers long life

An EnerSys product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 2, 2007

The Trolling Thunder battery technology allows the TT1175 to surpass typical marine battery performance with a faster recharge, increased power and longer life.

EnerSys has added a new model of battery to the Odyssey Trolling Thunder line.

The TT1175 dual-purpose deep cycling and engine starting marine battery has a 70% longer life cycle as well as a smaller footprint than conventional deep-cycle batteries.

The Trolling Thunder battery technology allows the TT1175 to surpass typical marine battery performance with a faster recharge, increased power and longer life.

The Trolling Thunder line has the highest recharge efficiency of any sealed lead battery on the market and is capable of 100% recharge in four to six hours.

The maintenance-free TT1175 was designed specifically to withstand high impact shock and mechanical vibration, and its rugged construction allows the battery to be mounted in any direction (except inverted).

In addition, the battery's high-conductivity terminals, a high-integrity terminal seal, glass mat separators and tough flame retardant cell containers extend the battery's service life to three to five years.

The battery is certified nonhazardous and nonspillable by the US DOT for safe shipping and has a limited two-year, full-replacement warranty.

Odyssey's 12V TT1175 features CA/MCA of 1175A, CCA of 875A, HCA of 1325A and PHCA of 1700A.

The TT1175's nominal capacity for the 20-hour rate and the 10-hour rate is 68Ah and 65Ah respectively, and the battery features SAE receptacle terminals as well as a deep cycle capability of 400 cycles at 80% depth of discharge (DOD).

The TT1175 measures 330.7mm x 168.2mm x 176.0 mm, weighs 27.6kg, and has a reserve capacity of 142 minutes.

Internal resistance is 3.5W and the short circuit current is 3500A.

The operating temperature ranges from -40C to 45C.
