Automatic watering eases battery maintenance

An EnerSys product story

The Hawker Aquafree charger enables vented batteries with a centralised watering system to be topped-up automatically every time they are recharged.

EnerSys has released the Hawker Aquafree charger, which incorporates an automatic watering system.

Designed to reduce significantly the amount of operator intervention when topping-up vented batteries with centralised watering systems, the Hawker Aquafree contains a water reservoir.

This lasts between four and 30 months before top up is necessary, depending on battery voltage and capacity.

Located in one compact cabinet, the Aquafree comprises a charger, an electro valve, a water tank with level indicator and pump.

This enables vented batteries with a centralised watering system to be topped-up automatically every time they are recharged.

It eliminates the daily check and top up routine and ensures the correct electrolyte level to prolong battery life.

A front compartment houses the display, the water tank and dispensing mechanism.

The partitioned rear compartment is dedicated to charging with ventilation for optimum cooling.

The blue LED display on the Hawker Aquafree reservoir indicates when the charger's water level is low.

Charging is automatically stopped if there is insufficient water and the safety lock released when the tank has been filled.

No mains water connection is required and the charger can be used in a charging room or at some other suitable location.

Connection is made using a combination plug for both electrical and water supply, which enables topping up and charging to occur concurrently.

The LED display indicates the Aquafree water reservoir level, charge in progress, battery available and equalisation charge.

Depending on the battery capacity and its depth of discharge the water reservoir can last for four months for a 48V 775Ah battery to as much as 30 months for a 24V 200Ah battery.

Labour and maintenance are reduced considerably by Hawker Aquafree, with no need for dedicated or battery maintenance staff.

There is no requirement for water connection or externally mounted electro-valves.

Hawker Aquafree is available in four models and a maintenance contract is available.
