Forum to dispel myths surrounding UK e-business

A The Engineering Council product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 15, 2000

The Engineering Council's E-business Forum on Thursday 7 December 2000 is to reveal findings from a recent e-business mission to the US which dispels the myth that the UK is far behind in e-business

Findings from a recent e-business mission to the US have dispelled the myth that the UK is trailing far behind in the technology stakes.

The e-business technology mission, led by the Engineering Council and supported by the DTI's International Technology Service, found that while the 'hype' may put the US at least 18 months ahead, when it comes to extracting real business benefit the gap is very small, probably less than 6 months.

This exciting finding along with many others will be revealed at the Engineering Council's E-business Forum, on Thursday 7 December at the CBI in London, which will include a keynote address by Lord Sainsbury, Minister for Science and Innovation, and a presentation from Richard Barrington, Director for Industry, Office of the E-Envoy, Cabinet Office.

The Forum is being seen as a strong wake-up call to British businesses to embrace business-to-business e-commerce or be left behind and be at the mercy of their competitors.
