Dr Robert Hawley, Chairman of the UK's Engineering Council, has been awarded membership of South Korea's prestigious National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK).

Dr Robert Hawley, Chairman of the UK's Engineering Council, has been awarded membership of South Korea's prestigious National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK).

On receiving the news Dr.Hawley said, "I was deeply honoured to have been nominated for membership of The National Academy of Engineering of Korea and I accepted with great pleasure.

The South Koreans have a world class record of engineering achievement which commands widespread admiration.

Having worked closely with them for many years I look forward to continuing to build links between the engineers and industry in our two countries.

Korea is emerging as a global player and its engineering skills are a particular strength.

Through closer ties we can jointly support international engineering projects and take advantage of the enormous opportunities that exist for our mutual benefit.".
