Engineering Design Consultants (EDC) was recently awarded a design contract for a new heavy truck wiring harness design.

Engineering Design Consultants (EDC) was recently awarded a design contract for a new heavy truck wiring harness design.

The wiring harness will eventually provide the electrical skeleton for an unnamed new truck being manufactured by a Northwest heavy automotive retailer.

The wiring harness will be entirely designed and tested for circuitry failures in-house at EDC headquarters in Portland, Oregon.

EDC will supply designs for several versions of the new wire harnesses.

EDC engineering staff anticipates this project will take them just two months to fully complete.

These harness designs comprise a substantial portion of the overall redesign and development of this new truck.

"A new main engine harness design is necessary to make this new truck work", said EDC Director of Engineering, Mike Smith.

"And we feel honoured to do the design work on such a crucial part of this forward-thinking truck".

EDC was selected to design this electrical harness because it has a long history of heavy truck engineering experience, and because it has detailed experience with the highly technical Mentor Graphics Logic Cable programs.

Better known as L-Cable, Logic Cable allows engineers to create cable harness designs with confirmed circuitry in a greatly reduced time frame.

With its experienced staff and L-Cable technologies, EDC is helping to significantly reduce the typical design timeline for a heavy truck of this kind.
