Engis (UK) has further extended its portfolio of polishing and abrasives solutions with its appointment as sole UK distributor for the PR Hoffman range, including polishing templates, insert carriers and plates and gears.

PR Hoffman, part of the Amtech Systems Corp, has for over 60 years provided innovative products to high-tech industries, wherever parts with flat, parallel surfaces and precise tolerances for thickness and surface finish are required.

These days such exacting applications include semiconductors, electronics, optics, electro optics and medical devices, to name but a few.

Now, for the first time, the range is available directly in the UK, supported by Engis' expert technical staff.

Insert carriers for semiconductor wafer manufacturing are available in a variety of thicknesses, in materials including spring steel, stainless steel, FR-4/G-10, PVC, phenolic, Lexan and vinyl - materials specially formulated to protect the edge of the wafer, while providing the strength and durability of traditional steel carriers.

Polishing and lapping conditioning brushes can improve polishing processes by removing embedded materials from the surface of polishing pads by using conditioning brushes.

Each brush carrier is uniquely designed for its particular polishing application - eg manufacturing hard-disk substrates.

PR Hoffman polishing templates have been developed to satisfy the very specific needs of the semiconductor industry with its demand for outstanding flatness, cleanliness and consistency.

High quality lapping plates and conditioning gears, manufactured at the most technologically advanced foundries, are available in a variety of metallurgies.

All replacement parts are made by skilled craftsmen who operate the industry's most advanced machining equipment to produce long-lasting precision parts.
