The latest portable clinching pliers now available from Eckold are air operated, making them suitable for a wide range of general workshop applications Two models are available, the MDZ 35/35 and the MDZ 45/30, offering variations on the clinching force available, as well as horizontal throat and access gap clearance dimensions

These products show an approximate 40% saving in purchase price compared with equivalent electrically operated models, increasing their compatibility with the needs of general industries.

Because of the normal availability of compressed air installations even within smaller engineering establishments, the latest clinchers are designed to have a universal appeal because of their simple plug-in and use capabilities.

These tools accommodate both square (S-DF) and round (R-DF) clinching joints, providing a very cost effective and convenient alternative to spot welding or riveting.

Typical markets include, heating, ventilating and general ducting, together with cladding and roofing, or wherever thinner gauge metal sheets are joined, having a combined maximum thickness of 3mm (2.5mm for the MDZ 45/30 unit).

These handheld clinching tools are complemented with a booster unit.

This is essentially an air over oil intensifier which generates a 360bar output pressure from a standard airline input of 6bar.

This effectively generates a working pressure force at the clincher head of 35kN (29kN for the MDZ 45/30 unit).

Both models at 3.5kg in weight are easy to handle, with generous access and throat dimensions for good component accessibility.

Integrated adjustable path limitation is provided as standard and short cycle times can be achieved for single stroke operation.

A 2m airline hose connection is supplied as standard, with a low power 240V supply also required for the clincher trigger mechanism.
