News Release from: Elesa (UK) | Subject: the EBP.SAN bridge handle

Silver-laden technopolymer creates
sanitary handle

The EBP.SAN bridge handle is the first in a series of sanitised elements with antimicrobial action.

Elesa has turned its attention to the introduction of sanitised elements with antimicrobial action for use in hospital/medical, showers, invalid equipment, food processing, catering and public service areas The first introduction is the EBP.SAN bridge handle in matt black for use as grab handles to hold equipment, open drawers, steady a person/operator

The EBP.SAN is made of a technopolymer with a special silver content.

When microbes/fungus/mildew etc digest silver ions they are destroyed from the inside.

Chemically, silver ions bind microbe cell walls, thus preventing cellular "respiration", causing lysis (rupture) of the microbe.

Microbes, bacteria, mildew and fungi are the major factors responsible for unpleasant odours, discolouration, degradation and formation of biofilm on surfaces.

These problems are particularly noticed in warm and humid environments which favour the formation of micro-organisms.

Elesa antimicrobial products have been developed to stop these effects and guarantee an effective hygiene and sanitised action against undesired microbes and bacteria even in the long term.

The SAN material is also appropriate for many other standard machine elements and does not contain any chemicals, antibiotic drugs or pesticides which may be released on the operator's hands.

Moreover, tests carried out on samples have revealed the antimicrobial inorganic additives guarantee complete maintenance of the antimicrobial characteristics in the long term, even after several cleaning cycles at high temperatures with soap and solvents.
