Standard machine elements suit niche
markets

The range of Elesa standard machine elements continues to grow in response to the needs of a manufacturing industry which is constantly finding new niche markets.

The range of Elesa standard machine elements continues to grow in response to the needs of a manufacturing industry which is constantly finding new niche markets The whole point of standard components is to speed and simplify assembly or to enable better component fastening

Operations are minimised and the outcome is an improved product.

Elesa has spent many years refining its design approach and production methodologies to provide their literally huge range of wheels, knobs, latches, levers, dials, locks, indicators for clamping control, equipment operation, machinery setting and for hydraulic systems.

A range enhanced by new positional devices aiding assembly of indicators on machinery and by new active biocide materials with silver ion content.

With handles for clean assembly areas and for bio-hazard processes, Elesa constantly break new ground to offer advanced thinking into new applications.

This means more ready assembled elements needing less production time and performing better than existing customer in-house items.

These recent examples of control positioning and clamping from Elesa include the new Elesa GN727 in either flange or side mounting format to give sensitive manual micrometer control of spindles, lead screws etc with either precise adjustment or alignment to a positive stop position.

Operation has been achieved without backlash for smooth forward/reverse transitions in either 10 or 15 rotation mode - with each rotation corresponding to 1mm and each of 50 graduations on the adjuster knob corresponding to 0.02mm.

All calibration marks are laser engraved - aluminium coloured on the black knob and black on the mat chrome body - this ensures strong contrast levels and a high degree of legibility.

The MSR.60 system of profile rod clamps, another recent offering, is ideal for positioning small assemblies, eg for mounting of side guards on conveyors, mounting micro switches/stops, for camera mounts and positioning of accessory equipment on powered assembly lines or large machines.

The system features a standard length multi-splined aluminium profile of 13mm diameter, linked with precision thermoplastic elements, including twin bolted base unit with tilt function and the possibility to mount in any orientation.

Externally splined arms are linked by matching internally splined right angle clamps and four possible types of mounting flange for installation of equipment.

Elesa has particularly addressed assembly speed with its ERX adjustable clamping handles by provision of a Torx T15 socket, thus ensuring that speed and style are available together.

ERX.AV ensures that machine production is as speedy as possible, with clamp handles preset using electric or pneumatic drives and final stage clamping under manual control, which permits particularly fine control by virtue of the spring loaded multi tooth (24) engagement mechanism.

Together with the ergonomically proportioned lever handle, this allows sensitive adjustment even in mid process.

"Whatever you want so long as it is black" used to be the mantra of machinery accessory suppliers.

Elesa has changed all that with lean, flexible manufacturing processes that deliver multiple colours as standard; logos, warnings and instructional markings to order and fixing systems by selection from plain bore to clip-fix.

These same processes can also handle high impact thermoplastics and increasing requirements for stainless steel - ultimately providing quality and choice to OEMs and end users.

Simply by extending this philosophy into the supply chain, minimum quantity deliveries can be scheduled over 12 months, thus spreading the cost and effectively dealing with stock and cash flow issues.

By pushing forward the boundaries of its standard products, Elesa can now also offer that same novel (often patented) technology in the development of custom products, thus adding definition to a customer's own niche equipment. Request a free brochure from Elesa (UK) ...
