Ball transfer units handle heavy loads

An Elesa (UK) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 29, 2007

Ball transfer units fit into any conveyor system to facilitate linear or rotary movement of heavy loads such as sheet steel, pallets, work jigs etc.

Industrial component specialist Elesa has extended its portfolio with the GN509 range of high-quality ball transfer units.

Designed specifically for movement of workpieces or subassemblies or for ease of positional adjustment GN509 ball transfer units fit into any conveyor system to facilitate linear or rotary movement of heavy loads such as sheet steel, pallets, work jigs etc, either under gravity or manual control.

GN509 units are modular push-fit ball assemblies featuring a large centre load contact ball with a "nest" of smaller friction reducing balls in a hemispherical cup.

Application is generally in a matrix format which ensures that at least three ball units are in contact with the load at any time in both x and y axis - thus ensuring good stability and load carrying capacity at conveying speeds of up to 2m/s.

GN509 units are available in 12 to 60mm ball sizes with static load capacities up to 13kN.

Fitment is by simple drop in location and spring retainer rings are available to more easily facilitate removal.
