Non-reclosing pressure relief devices, they are sensitive to extremely small changes in pressure and provide a highly efficient pressure relief system.
Pressure regulators and breather valves have traditionally been the sole method of controlling pressure fluctuations in atmospheric storage tanks.
However, these devices can be prone to malfunction due to mechanical failure, resulting in severe damage to the tank if over- or under-pressure occurs.
Many organisations now depend on Elfab's bursting discs as a fail-safe method of pressure relief.
Offering full-bore pressure relief with an instantaneous, single-stage opening, they have no moving parts, so will not fail due to mechanical faults.
With burst pressures ranging from 5 to 550mbar g, the Posi-Guard and Vac-Guard range are the most sensitive available.
Manufactured from stainless steel in accordance with BS2915, the British Standard for bursting discs, they are available in diameters ranging from 50 to 300mm and can operate in temperatures ranging from -40C to 150C.
Other sizes, tolerances and materials are available on request.
Fool-proof installation is ensured by using Elfab's System-Loc mounting device.
Bursting discs offer many advantages over other forms of pressure relief: they are low in cost, leak-tight, virtually maintenance-free and provide an instantaneous response.
