Specifically designed for over-pressure relief in aseptic processing applications, Elfab has developed the Bio-Guard bursting disc, which can withstand sanitation and sterilisation procedures

Specifically designed for over-pressure relief in aseptic processing applications, Elfab has developed the Bio-Guard bursting disc Designed to burst open at a specific pressure, it relieves potentially dangerous pressure build-up within the pipework of process plant in industries such as pharmaceutical manufacturing and biochemical engineering

High precision pressure relief devices, bursting discs are used throughout the process industries and are an essential safety component in all process plants.

The biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries demand high standards of hygiene - with obvious implications for the design and manufacture of plant components.

The Bio-Guard is designed to withstand the sanitation and sterilisation procedures used in hygienic systems, and has a completely smooth surface on its process side, eliminating the danger of product build-up.

In addition, it is non-fragmenting, so will not contaminate the process after functioning.

The disc's novel design eliminates the need for a special outlet ferrule in order to fit within a hygienic system - it can now fit directly between two ISO2852 standard industry couplings and clamp fittings.

This allows quick and easy fitting and maintenance.

Available in 25, 40 and 50mm sizes, the Bio-Guard has burst pressures ranging from 2 to 10 bar g and can be supplied in 316 stainless steel, nickel and hastelloy.

Tested and certified in accordance with BS2915 - the British standard for bursting discs - the Bio-Guard also conforms to the American FDA material specifications and the American 3A sanitary standards.
