New from Elfab, the Bio-Tel is an electrical sensor which instantly sends a signal to process control systems when a pressure surge causes a bursting disc to operate.

Ideal for hygienic/aseptic process applications such as pharmaceutical manufacturing and bioprocess engineering, it is designed for use with the recently-developed Bio-Guard bursting disc.

Consisting of a membrane with an electrically conductive track and mounted in a gasket, the Bio-Tel simply fits between two industry-standard ISO2852 couplings, directly adjacent to the bursting disc.

If over-pressure causes the disc to operate, escaping fluid or gas ruptures the membrane and instantly sends an open-circuit signal to the process controller.

Available in 25, 40 and 50mm sizes, and with an operating temperature range of -40C to +200C, the Bio-Tel is constructed from materials which conform to the American FDA (Food and Drug Administration) material specifications.

With an IP rating of 67, the electrical connector is highly secure and protrudes downwards at a 45deg angle, putting as little stress as possible on the point where it joins the sensor.
