Board eases high-power laser integration
Connector board makes it easy to mount high power 14-pin butterfly laser packages in minutes either for quick power-on inspection, burn-in or integration into the end products.
Available now from Elite Thermal Engineering, the model BA-01 is a convenient 14-pin butterfly connector board that provides ZIF (zero insertion force) connection, onboard diode reverse bias protection and surge protection for popular 14-pin butterfly laser packages The current carrying capacity of the trace and contacts for laser diode and thermoelectric cooler is rated 6A, making connecting high power 14-pin butterfly pump diodes much easier

Elite Thermal Engineering recently released a series of high performance, high power thermoelectric cooling modules (cold plates) that are designed specifically for high power laser diodes.
Cold plate helps lasers keep their cool
Elite Thermal Engineering has developed a new record-setting cold plate for laser diode cooling.
Existing 14-pin butterfly mounts on the market are designed for low power diode packages in the telecomms industry and the connections are limited to few particular brands of diodes and TEC controllers.
Most end users have to design their own PCBs to interface with the 14-pin butterfly package, and it is very inconvenient to test 14-pin butterfly packages.
There is no high power 14-pin butterfly mount available on the market today that can carry 6A current.
The BA-01 makes it possible to conveniently connect/disconnect high power 14-pin butterfly laser packages in minutes either for quick power-on inspection, or burn-in, or integration into the end products.
Users can mount the board flat on the 14-pin butterfly-mounting surface with the provided electrical insulation sheet; once in place, users can mount the 14-pin butterfly laser package on the mounting surface.
The electrical connection is via a simple clamp that gently presses the 14-pin butterfly contacts to spring loaded ZIF connectors; all contacts are routed to a 20-pin connector that interfaces with the user harness for connecting to diode and thermoelectric drivers.
Mating connector information is provided in ETE's BA-01 datasheet, and ETE offers custom cable harnesses as accessories.
