Elma has developed the wWorld's smallest 2 slot CompactPCI subsystem, combining hot swap backplane, power supply, fans and disk-drive bay within a sturdy hot-dipped steel enclosure only 1u high The system will accept two 6u x 80mm rear I/O boards in addition to the two 6u x 160mm front slots, and is available either with ears for rack mounting, or without ears for freestanding applications

This new sub-system provides a low cost route to reducing system size and development time in applications such as telecommunications and industrial control.

The new 1u unit offers excellent EMC characteristics, and includes mains switches front and rear, integrated fan speed control and space for either a 3.5 inch or 2.5 inch disk.

For larger applications, an optional drive bay is available to accept 2 x 2.5 inch disk drives.

The subsystem is IEEE 1101.10/1101.11 compliant, and includes a universal input (90v - 264v AC) 200W ATX power supply with built-in active power factor correction, providing +3.3v, +5v, +12v, -5v and -12v outputs.

For maximum reliability, the 1u/84HP subsystem is fitted with three 75,000 hour rated fans, and includes intelligent fan control and fan failure monitoring as standard.

With a 100,000 hour rated PSU, the enclosure is specified to operate from 0-55C and at up to 90% relative humidity.

The standard front panel colour is a black powder-coated finish, but Elma UK is also able to offer a full service of customisation, including special colours, special front panels and even a complete prototyping service.
