Elo Touchsystems has announced the establishment of direct sales support in the UK and Ireland, and in France, to better serve the fast-growing demand for touchmonitor and touchscreen products

Elo Touchsystems, Inc., the global leader in touch technologies and a unit of Tyco Electronics, has announced the establishment of direct sales support in the UK and Ireland, and in France, allowing it to better serve the fast-growing demand for touchmonitor and touchscreen products in these markets Customers will have the benefit of a new direct communications channel to Elo's global pre- and post-sales customer service, engineering, and manufacturing organisation

Elo's new office in the UK will be located in Swindon, Wiltshire, and in France, in Montreuil, Paris.

Elo recently acquired and retained the sales and technical staff of Touchscreen Systems Ltd.

(TSL) in the UK and IC International Concept (IC) in France, both of which were previously Elo authorised distributors in these markets, to provide a smooth transition and continuity of service.

In keeping with Elo's strategy to not compete with its customers in the important kiosk market, Elo will not take over IC's kiosk-building businesses.

IP Syst?mes and Eurocomposant continue to be Elo authorised distributors for France.

Craft Data Ltd.

continues to be an Elo authorised distributor for the UK.

"These acquisitions are a natural step forward in Elo's strategy to build closer working relationships with our customers and global business partners," said Elo's president, Emily M.

Liggett.

"The touch market continues to expand significantly and Elo is making key investments to meet customer demand, provide closer direct service, and bring new innovations rapidly to market.

Strong demand for our touch products is set to continue, as innovative new applications choose to adopt Elo's family of touch solutions." Luc Mergeay, Elo's managing director for Europe, added: "Elo has become the global leader in touch by focusing on the needs of key vertical markets, developing technology and product to meet the needs of these markets, and establishing high standards for customer service.

Being close to customers and listening to their needs and expectations is a key element of Elo's strategy in Europe.

By establishing direct sales support operations in the UK and France, we can ensure that all current and future touch customers in these territories benefit directly from the Elo approach." In addition to expanding direct customer support in the UK/Ireland and France, Elo will bring its global Kiosk and TouchReady Software Partner Programmes to these countries.

These programmes allow Elo to work more closely with experienced kiosk builders and developers of touch software applications to bring customers a better overall system solution.
