Electrophysics, a manufacturer of infra-red imaging systems, is offering the Orion multi-spectral imaging system.

Available in both the SW/MW and LW range, the Orion system is capable of producing video rate IR images at up to 240 full frames per second.

With an InSb detector, the Orion SW/MW features a spectral response of 1.5 to 5um and with a MCT detector.

The Orion LW features a spectral response of 7.7 to 9.5um, with an option to 11.0um.

The Orion multi-spectral imaging system incorporates an internal high-speed filter wheel that accepts up to four separate filters for viewing sub-spectral ranges.

Rotating at up to 12,000 rev/min, the wheel has an optical encoder that ensures each filter is synchronised to its unique integration time.

The filters in the system are standard one inch filters, available from several sources, and can be installed in the field.

The Orion is based on the popular Jade camera electronics platform.

The sensor is a 320 x 240 high quantum efficiency focal plane array (windowed to 256 x 256) and features 14bit digital electronics integrated in a compact and durable housing, making the camera the ideal solution for a number of demanding applications, including target signature analysis, sub-spectral analysis, gas detection, and general R and D.

For added versatility and to meet specific field of view requirements, the system is compatible with a number of interchangeable optics including a 25mm, 50mm, 100mm and 200mm lens.

Additional advanced features include variable snap shot integration, variable frame rates (up to 240Hz), a RS422 digital output and an internal/external synchronisation trigger.

The Orion system is designed to interface with Altair, a real-time data acquisition and infra-red image analysis workstation.

The Orion also can be used in a standard Jade mode.
