Elysium has rolled out a full line of CAD translator software for conversion between CATIA, I-DEAS, Pro/Engineer and SolidWorks, representing an expansion into the mid-range CAD market

Elysium has rolled out a full line of CAD translator software for conversion between CATIA, I-DEAS, Pro/Engineer and SolidWorks.

This expansion into the mid-range CAD market signifies a broadening commitment by the company, which last year opened its US office.

"We have shifted considerable resources to this important segment of the industry," said vice president Ken Tashiro.

"There has essentially been a paradigm shift in the CAD world which allows interoperability between mid-range CAD systems and legacy CAD systems.

Small to mid-sized companies are interacting with much larger manufacturing firms.

The applicability of SolidWorks features and functionality is providing value by allowing the downstream designer to create a quality model.

With excellent data translation this model can be moved upstream without the loss of data integrity." Elysium called upon its long history in legacy CAD data conversion to develop the new product line.

"Our translation kernel has been fine-tuned over the years to deal with geometries created at different tolerances," said CTO Abdul Shammaa.

"The processes are different for translating to and from SolidWorks and they also differ based on the other CAD system involved.

We have reliable products because we can handle all flavors of geometry and topology representations that different CAD systems represent." Elysium became an official SolidWorks Solution Partner in March this year.

Through the partner program, SolidWorks and partner companies provide integrated solutions and services that improve SolidWorks customers' productivity.

Founded in 1984, Elysium develops, distributes and markets data translator software.

Elysium has a successful track record with several major software companies including Adobe Systems, Ashlar-Vellum, CoCreate and SDRC.

CADporter exhibits superior 3-D geometry handling, management of different topology representations and the automatic healing of inconsistencies that regularly occur during the conversion of surface and solid CAD models.

It allows true interoperability between CATIA, I-DEAS, Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks and Unigraphics with the industry's highest translation success rate.

It enables accurate conversion of original source data, which makes sharing information among several widely used CAD applications an easier process.

This rapid exchange facilitates improvement in designer productivity and reduces cost associated with incompatible translation tools.

CADporter features the ability to read and write true native file formats.
