Elysium is currently developing products that integrate Smarteam product lifecycle management solutions within the Unigraphics and I-deas CAD environments.
Elysium has also recently joined the partner programme of Smarteam Corp as an official Smarteam Developer, bringing its extensive experience in native 3D CAD data translation to the PLM market.
The new integrations will enable manufacturers to use Smarteam from within the I-deas and Unigraphics NX environments to manage all product design and attribute data, including 3D geometry and product data intelligence.
Smarteam solutions provide comprehensive robust data and process management and collaboration across the product lifecycle, from concept to maintenance.
This development is part of Elysium's program to continually extend its expertise in the area of data exchange, growing from 3D geometry into product structure, feature-based modelling, annotation and now PDM integration.
"Interoperability of standard 3D geometric data was pretty much solved some time ago", stated Ken Tashiro, COO, Elysium.
"So for the last two years, our developers have been tackling the meatier issues involved with intelligence of the 3D data - attributes and metadata that provide the IQ for the designs.
The Smarteam PLM platform, with its openness and accessible API, provides an excellent technical platform for our integration efforts, while Smarteam's large customer base and solid standing in the PLM market make this an attractive strategic step forward for us".
Elysium's PDM translation products, known as CAD.pdm, enable 3D product data, together with the "design intelligence" captured in the related 3D attributes and metadata, to be used, shared and manipulated throughout the product lifecycle.
Previously, 3D solutions actually discarded 3D attributes and PDM control information, creating process problems.

The new integrations, to be offered as part of the Elysium CAD.pdm product line, will be available in Q2 2004.
