Emerson webinars to focus on wireless technology

An Emerson Process Management product story

Emerson Process Management has confirmed its programme of free webinars that will focus on the use of wireless technology within the chemical industry.

The company has scheduled monthly seminars that will demonstrate how wireless can improve plant efficiency, increase the effectiveness of operations and maintenance personnel and even change the way plants are operated.

The next seminar, entitled 'Doing More with Less with Wireless', is on 14 September and focuses on the challenge that all chemical producers face, which is to do more with less.

Following a brief introduction to wireless technology, the seminar will identify areas of production, operations and maintenance and project functions where wireless will have a significant and immediate impact on business performance.

This will be followed by 'Wireless in Projects - A Faster, Cheaper, Manageable Infrastructure', which is to be held on 19 October.

This will demonstrate how wireless technologies have the potential to bring alignment between project organisations, with their emphasis on risk, cost and time, and the systems and I/E engineering functions that are more concerned with consistency, sustainability and supportability.

'Improving Production Performance with Wireless', scheduled to take place on 16 November, will focus on the improvements that wireless technologies can make to production.

Concentrating on the themes of temporary and additional measurement, the seminar will illustrate how wireless can change an approach to performance measurement and monitoring, bringing about improvements in productivity, yield and availability.

Aimed at plant maintenance and operations staff, the final seminar in the series on 14 December, entitled 'Wireless - More Reliability, Less Maintenance', will illustrate how wireless technologies can reduce the frequency and severity of unplanned equipment failures, enabling users to move away from reactive or periodic practices to predictive maintenance.

The 45-minute web seminars will use typical applications based on existing installations to demonstrate how wireless can improve plant efficiency, increase the effectiveness of operations and maintenance staff and provide advanced warnings of problems before they have an effect on the process.

Tailored to the needs of plant management, projects, operation and maintenance personnel, the seminars will be fully interactive, enabling delegates to pose questions directly to the presenters during the event, according to the company.
