Emerson wireless monitor gives position feedback

An Emerson Process Management product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 27, 2009

Emerson Process Management has expanded its Smart Wireless family with the release of the Fisher 4320 wireless position monitor.

Beyond its wireless advantages, the monitor is said to be the first and only linkage-less device to provide accurate position feedback and uses industry-standard WirelessHART communications.

The Fisher 4320 wireless position monitor represents only 10 to 20 per cent of the installed cost of a wired solution.

The wireless monitor installs and commissions quickly, providing users with a cost-effective way to access the information.

The Fisher wireless device monitors equipment such as valves, regulators, louvres, displacement and float level sensors, and relief valves in standard and hazardous area locations.

With its non-contacting rotary and linear monitoring, the 4320 is adaptable to almost anything where a percentage measurement of span is desired.

The Fisher 4320 wireless position monitor is part of Emerson's range of intelligent digital field devices that power the PlantWeb architecture to improve plant efficiency by 2 per cent and more through delivering asset optimisation, process automation and management execution.

The position monitor has a five to ten year SmartPower battery life and is fully compatible with existing Smart Wireless networks.

Emerson's Smart Wireless solutions are an extension of the PlantWeb digital plant architecture, combining reliable, smart monitoring devices with wireless transmitters in a self-organising mesh network that automatically adapts as device points are added or removed, or obstructions encountered.

The range also includes the TopWorx 4310 wireless position monitor, which wirelessly detects rotary or linear movement and monitors the on/off status of valves, sliding-stem regulators and safety relief valves.

Other wireless devices include Rosemount transmitters, Rosemount Analytical and Machinery Health Management devices, and native wireless interfaces to AMS Suite predictive maintenance software, DeltaV or Ovation digital automation systems, and wireless SmartStart Services.
