Tricorder Technology recently incorporated electric linear actuators and telescopic columns from EMS to assist in the positional adjustment of its revolutionary 3D image capturing system

Tricorder Technology Plc of Harefield in Middlesex has recently incorporated electric linear actuators and telescopic columns from Aldermaston based Electro Mechanical Systems Limited to assist in the positional adjustment of their revolutionary 3D image capturing system An array of digital cameras mounted on a frame provides the hardware for instantaneous capture of a 3D image

Proprietary software subsequently processes the digital images into one accurate, textured and coloured 3D computer image.

The long stroke Telemag telescopic column was selected from the wide range available through EMS, because of its compact, aesthetically pleasing design together with its reliable, maintenance free operation.

EMS offer many versions of the Telemag columns including AC and DC models, 2 and 3 stage models, 1000N, 1800N and 4000N thrust types plus stroke lengths from 200mm to 700mm.

The Telemag telescopic columns selected comprise of two high-quality extruded aluminium tubes, the largest of which is 85mm square.

The two tubes run one inside the other giving rigid support to the entire camera stand.

The smooth running, silent AC motor provides effortless height adjustment of up to 500mm.

Manufactured from matt anodised aluminium, Telemag columns are attractive and are often used in applications where the columns themselves are visible.

Movement can be initiated either electrically or pneumatically by a simple 2-button UP/DOWN control.

The second movement of the Tricorder system uses a conventional Mingardi D6fce manufactured linear actuator to provide angular tilt of all cameras simultaneously.

Here again, the unit was selected because of its high power-to-size ratio and smooth, fast-acting linear movement.

Maintenance-free operation and reliability were critical factors in the selection process.

Telemag is a long established range of telescopic columns from EMS Limited.

Others include the TLT Telemag, heavy duty, fully programmable industrial units and the recently introduced TXG range of low-cost telescopic pillars.

The Telemag range is ideally suited to a variety of applications including therapy couches, draughting tables and work benches.

Options include encoders, signal contacts, special stroke settings, special voltages (UL version), and mounting plates. Request a free brochure from EMS ...
