When Suffolk based Gatehouse Industrial Services designed a new range of adjustable tables for Ophthalmic Practioners, they approached a number of companies before deciding upon Electro Mechanical Systems as their preferred supplier of telescopic columns.

As part of a major engineering group, Gatehouse are flexible enough to produce whatever their clients want.

Design and performance changes are happily accommodated and this willingness has made the company extremely successful in its field.

The current product is for use in Ophthalmic practices and is a table approximately 900mm high x 700mm high x 700mm wide.

The EMS supplied Telesmart telescopic columns adjust the overall height of the tables from 900mm to approximately 1300mm, lifting some 50Kg over the 400mm stroke length.

Karl Sears of Gatehouse Industrial Services elaborated.

"Although we approached a number of potential suppliers, EMS were chosen for a number of important reasons.

Firstly the package they offered was right and secondly, product was available as and when we needed it.

From a technical point of view we looked long and hard at everything.

EMS give us the quality and reliability we were looking for in a product that looks good.

In fact, their versatile brushed aluminium finish can be incorporated into a variety of tables and always looks good.

Although their markets are entirely UK based at present, Gatehouse Industrial Services have recently entered into agreements to sell products into France and Holland.

One of their best selling strengths is the fact that they can offer product almost ex-stock, two or three days being typical despatch times.

To offer this service, Gatehouse have to be able to rely on their suppliers and they are happy to endorse EMS in this respect.

Karl Sears continued.

"We were a little disappointed that other manufacturers couldn't match the delivery programme proposed by EMS.

However, worse was to come.

When we looked at equipment from other suppliers, some of whom are mainland Europe based, we were surprised that product failure rates were quite high and ultimately decided against incorporating these products into our tables.
