Electro Mechanical Systems have announced immediate availability of a new 44mm diameter rare earth magnet brushless DC motor from System Faulhaber.

Extending the range to six models Aldermaston based Electro Mechanical Systems have announced immediate availability of a new 44mm diameter rare earth magnet brushless DC motor from System Faulhaber.

Like other models in the Faulhaber high performance brushless DC motor range, the 4490-B is aimed at long life, compact drive applications where size, power-to-weight, power-to-volume and high efficiency are all critical.

High-speed servo systems such as pick-and-place applications are particularly suitable for these motors.

Available as a 24V, 36V and 48V voltage motor, the new 4490-B models give the same speed and torque regardless of nominal voltage.

Introduction of the new 4490-B now extends the 4490 family to six models across the size/power range 16mm/11watts to 44mm/201watts.

The maximum recommended running speed is 16,000rpm with a torque of up to 190mNm available at 10,000rpm and a stall torque of 2,758 mNm.

EMS are also carrying a new purpose designed encoder for the 4490-B motors, designated the 40B as well as the new 44mm 44/1 planetary gearhead.

The range is completed by a choice of drive electronics which are suited to a range of applications.
