Custom designed column lifts surgical
procedures
Bespoke mechanisms provide rotary drives with a high dynamic torque and linear drives with dynamic forces of 7500N for a novel design of operating table.
The new T20 operating table from Eschmann Equipment offers fully automated adjustment of all table top functions for safe, trauma free positioning of the patient for even the most complicated surgical procedures, without compromising the health and safety of the medical staff Electro Mechanical Systems was approached initially to provide the telescopic column for height adjustment of the tabletop

Hot new autoclavable Brushless DC motors
EMS is able to supply motors that can survive the rigours of going through a medical autoclave at 135°C, 100% humidity, and a pressure of 2.1 bar.
The brief given to EMS was to provide a 24V DC column with the best stroke-to-closed height ratio, something which was achieved with the unique operating characteristics of the TLT dual-spindle column.
The high-quality aluminium extrusions together with their precision guide bearings ensure maximum stability of the operating table even with high offset loads.
Additional movements of the table presented a bigger challenge for EMS as no standard products existed within the range that would meet the performance criteria within the limited space envelope available.
EMS turned to its experienced design team based at its manufacturing facility in Poole, Dorset.
Working closely with design engineers from Eschmann, EMS developed bespoke mechanisms to provide rotary drives with a high dynamic torque and linear drives with dynamic forces of 7500N.
In each case a static safety factor of four was engineered into the design to comply with the rigorous medical standards set out in EN60601.
This challenging application utilised every aspect of EMS's comprehensive facility, from design resource, CNC shop, assembly area and their own internal gear cutting shop.
The result is a table that meets the client's strict operating criteria as well as relevant European medical standards. Request a free brochure from EMS ...
