Electro Mechanical Systems has a new drive product family from micromotor and drive specialist Faulhaber Group.

The new products are the Series 13 DC micromotor duo with integrated encoders and their companion Series 14/1 planetary gearhead, Series 15/3 and 15/5 spur gearheads and the Series 15/8 reduced-backlash spur gearheads.

The two new DC micromotors are the Series 1319-SR and the 1331-SR.

The motors are just 13mm in diameter and 19 and 31mm long, respectively, and offer the extremely efficient neodymium magnet.

Although extremely compact, the precious metal commutation and patented System Faulhaber self-supporting skew-wound copper coil enables the dynamic motor duo to achieve 14,700 or 10,600rev/min at a stall torque of 2.91 and 11.30mNm, respectively.

The associated gearheads are like the Series 13 micromotors themselves, a triumph of engineering science.

They offer a robust all-metal construction with an outer diameter of just 14 or 16mm.

Reduction ratios range between 3.7:1 to an astonishing 235,067:1 while offering up to 300mNm continuous operation output torque and up to 450mNm intermittent operation torque.

The integrated encoder extends the motor length by just 1.5mm.

It is dust-contamination and light-proof, offers a maximum 400 lines per revolution with a two-channel, square-wave signal output.

The Series MCDC 2805, four-quadrant PWM motion controller completes the offering.

It enables extremely accurate velocity control with high performance, speed constant and lowest possible torque variance.

The motion controller also enables torque control through current limiting.

All operational functions are programmable through the Motion Manager 2.1 software that works with Windows 95/98/Me and NT 2000, XP.
