Micromotors come with a choice of gears

Electro Mechanical Systems has a range of new drive product families from micromotor and drive specialist Faulhaber Group.

Electro Mechanical Systems has a range of new drive product families from micromotor and drive specialist Faulhaber Group One of the new products is the Series 17 DC micromotor duo with integrated encoders and their companion Series 16A spur gearheads and the Series 16/7 planetary gearheads

The two new DC micromotors are the Series 1717-SR and the 1724-SR.

They are just 17mm diameter and 17 or 24mm long, respectively, and benefit from the high power to volume of a neodymium magnet.

Although extremely compact, the precious metal commutation and patented System Faulhaer self-supporting skew-wound copper coil enables the two new motors to achieve 13,300 or 8600rev/min at stall torques of 5.76 and 13.20mNm, respectively.

Output powers are 2.1 and 2.89W, respectively.

The associated Series 16A spur gearheads is a cost-effective solution comprising of a metal geartrain protected in a robust plastic housing.

The Series 16/7 planetary gearhead offers an all-metal construction with preloaded bearings on the output shaft.

An impressive 25 reduction ratios are available between 3.7:1 and 5752:1, with up to 300mNm continuous operation output torque and 450mNm intermittent operation torque.

The magnetic encoder, when mounted to the motor, extends the motor length by just 1.4mm.

It is a high-resolution compact design which offers a maximum 512 lines per revolution with a two-channel, square wave signal output.

The Series MCDC 2805, four-quadrant PWM motion controller completes the offering.

It enables extremely accurate velocity control with high performance, speed constant and lowest possible torque variance.

The motion controller also enables torque control through current limiting.

All operational functions are programmable through the Motion Manager 2.1 software that works with Windows 95/98/Me and NT 2000, XP. Request a free brochure from EMS ...
