Measurement system verifies container opacity

An EMX Industries product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 12, 2009

The Opax-1000 from EMX Industries combines proven sensor technology with hardware to provide a system to measure light transmission in a wide variety of applications.

Many products require packaging designed to protect the contents from the damaging effects of light.

Establishing pass/fail criteria for minimum opacity of these containers and providing on-line measurement eliminates defects and allows real-time quality control of these processes.

The Opax-1000 provides a solution, allowing the user to monitor every container, and identify and remove containers with low opacity.

Features of the system include: a relative opacity units display; high-resolution analogue output that allows opacity monitoring by an external system; high detection speed with 100us discrete output response; adjustable brackets for quick set-up and integration; calibration feature for manual user sensitivity adjustment; laser-mark position sensor; and a numerical display indicating measured levels.
