Now the performance and cost benefits associated with the true 17-bit Smart Abs encoders from Encoder Technology are available to a much wider design community thanks to the introduction of new models The latest additions to this range have SSI-output, the standard demanded by many European and North American companies

Costing a fraction of the price of traditional 17-bit encoders, Smart Abs was developed as a high speed, high accuracy positioning device, particularly for robotic applications.

Its maximum speed is 6000 rpm and positioning accuracy, +/-1/2 bit.

As well as the single turn 17-bit models, Smart Abs may also be specified as multi-turn 33 bit versions.

Typically costing a tenth of the price of its competitors, Smart Abs is also substantially smaller.

Traditionally, a 17-bit encoder could be up to 600mm in diameter - the Smart Abs can be as small as 35mm.

It also features a dual mode signal output which allows consistent and precise positional feedback of data across a wide range of dynamic conditions; the Smart Abs employs an incremental signal at low speed and a lower resolution absolute signal as speed increases.

In common with existing products in the Smart Abs range, the new SSI-output models also feature an E2PROM for the easy input and storage of set-up parameters and identification information.

Additional customer data can be freely stored with up to 640 bits of memory available (8 bit x 80 addresses). Request a free brochure from Encoder Technology ...
