Noise and vibration specialist, Bruel and Kjaer has launched Endevco's new Valuline accelerometer family with the variable capacitance (VC) model 7596.

Noise and vibration specialist, Bruel and Kjaer has launched Endevco's new Valuline accelerometer family with the variable capacitance (VC) model 7596.

Economical and rugged, the new model 7596 offers a low cost solution for low-level, low frequency applications.

The Valuline has many of the same features as Endevco's rugged model 7290A Microtron accelerometer making the new 7596 ideal for applications where the 7290A's tight thermal characteristics are not required.

Applications include laboratory measurements, ground transportation studies and measurements where the accelerometer will be subjected to high shock levels up to 10,000 g's.

The model 7596 is also suitable for modal studies on large structures.

Four models are available offering +/-2, +/-10, +/-30 and +/-100g measurement ranges.

Specifications include sensitivity of 1000 +/-20mV/g, 200 +/-10mV/g, 66 +/-4mV/g and 20 +/-1mV/g respectively, frequency response from 0 to 15Hz, 0 to 500Hz, 0 to 800Hz and 0 to 2000Hz respectively and mounted resonance frequency of 1300, 3000, 5500 and 5500Hz respectively.

Operating temperature range is -55 to +121 C for all models.

Gas damping and internal over range stops enable the anisotropically etched silicon microsensors to withstand very high shocks and acceleration loads.

The use of gas damping in the sensor results in very small induced changes of frequency response while the patented sensor design ensures immediate stability making the unit ready to take accurate DC (steady state) or dynamic data within 1ms.

The Endevco model 7596 operates from 9.5 to 18V DC (or +/-4.75 to +/-9V DC) and provides a high level, low impedance output that is high enough to drive most laboratory instruments, tape recorders and data acquisition systems without amplification or signal conditioning.

The output can be fed into either a differential or single-ended amplifier or standard bridge electronics with 10V DC excitation if required.

With over 50 years experience, Bruel and Kjaer is a world leading manufacturer and supplier of sound and vibration products for use in a wide range of applications including environmental noise measurements, building acoustics, vibration measurements and quality control for use in the automotive, aerospace and consumer industries as well as by local authorities.
