Spectris spends USD86m on LDS buy-out

A Bruel and Kjaer product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 18, 2008

Spectris has bought LDS Test and Measurement from SPX for USD86m, on a debt and cash-free basis.

The acquisition will be consolidated from 1 December 2008.

Spectris announced on 1 October 2008 that it had agreed to buy LDS Test and Measurement for USD102m.

The sales, operating profit and gross assets previously disclosed remain unchanged.

The transaction was subject to a number of conditions and under the revised terms of the contract, Spectris will not acquire the Nicolet brand name.

The LDS data acquisition and instrumentation products will be rebranded under the HBM name.

LDS Test and Measurement also provides test systems for the electro-dynamic vibration market.

These products complement those from Bruel and Kjaer Sound and Vibration Measurement, enabling Spectris to provide customers with systems for structural analysis and vibration testing.
