Conference goals are to promote the medical device industry; provide a forum to bring medical device designers, manufacturers, researchers, and representatives from the public sector together to share perspectives on medical devices; and raise funds from corporate sponsorship to endow graduate fellowships in medical device design.
"It is through support like Endevco's that we will be able to improve our undergraduate and graduate programmes and to strengthen the ties between the university and industry, especially in research and teaching programmes", stated Peter McMurry, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Endevco is a leader in providing high-performance acceleration monitoring sensors that are used in devices such as heart pacemakers and defibrillators.
The involvement with the DMD conference is an example of the company's support for academic research and excellence.
