Vibration monitoring company completes merger

An Endevco product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 10, 2007

Endevco is now part of the new Meggitt Sensing Systems (MSS) division of Meggitt.

Endevco is now part of the new Meggitt Sensing Systems (MSS) division of Meggitt.

The division has been formed by merging the Meggitt Aerospace Systems and Meggitt Electronics groups into a single entity.

With centres of excellence in France, Switzerland, Spain, the UK and the United States, Meggitt Sensing Systems will deliver more critical sensing solutions into the aerospace, energy, medical, industrial and automotive sectors than any other company.

The new division will be led by Dr Richard Greaves, a 30-year industry veteran and most recently the Managing Director of Meggitt Aerospace Systems.

Endevco is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2007.

The company specialises in advanced accelerometers, transducers, microphones and associated calibration systems, amplifiers, signal conditioners, cables and accessories.

"Meggitt Sensing Systems is a natural and timely evolution of our sensing businesses that blends the capabilities and outstanding market positions of our Electronics and Aerospace groups", said Meggitt CEO Terry Twigger.

"By joining forces, they will create the pre-eminent group in this field in the world with manufacturing and engineering capability on three continents, unparalleled technical resources, leading positions in our key markets, and a much stronger marketing capability".

"We are very excited to bring Endevco's 60 years of sensor experience to the new division to strengthen our combined capabilities", said Endevco President Scott Silcock.

"We are committed to working closely with the other companies within MSS to maximise our combined technical talent and to deliver ever more sophisticated solutions to customers' extreme environment engineering problems".

Meggitt produces sensors for measuring virtually every physical parameter - acceleration, speed, pressure, force, temperature, distance, position, vibration and level - without fail over the long-term and in severe conditions.

The products function on engines at high temperatures; on heart muscles and in the blood stream; on anthropomorphic dummies fixed to ejector seats; immersed in jet fuel; at missile and satellite launches; on offshore wind turbines; and on helicopter rotor heads in the desert.
