The Endevco model 7287 suits use on vehicle bumpers, bumpers, doors and boot lids, which are likely to be heavily damaged during test.

Endevco has released its model 7287 crush sensor with performance certified to specifications for critical test applications requiring superior accuracy, reliability and low cost of ownership The device provides reliable, predictable performance and avoids the need to characterise the sensor before use

The Endevco model 7287 suits applications that require certified performance to a known specification for ZMO, including on-vehicle locations such as bumpers, bumpers, doors and boot lids, which are likely to be heavily damaged during test.

Because data gathered from these areas is critical, it is imperative that sensors function reliably.

Specified to "max" or "min" values of key parameters, not to "typical", the model 7287 offers the ability to predict error budgets.

A "POP" calibration data sheet is provided with sensitivity, ZMO and full-scale range information.

The model 7287 features an input voltage of 10V DC and output sensitivity of 0.10mV/g.

Additional features include full-scale range of 2000g a frequency response of 4000Hz with a resonant frequency of 20,000 Hz, a small, lightweight configuration for easy glue mounting, and a rugged, PVC-jacketed cable that is less than 2mm in diameter for easy installation and cable routing, with shielding to preserve signal integrity.

Three form factors are available for maximum flexibility, two with a cable and one without a cable, for customers who prefer to do their own wiring.

"The new model 7287 is designed and built based on our decades of experience in high-end transducers and crash testing", said David Bucka, Automotive Market Segment Manager for Endevco.

"That proven foundation provides the assurance that the sensor will perform when needed and that the product will be built and delivered as requested".
