Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 22, 2008

Book aims to appeal to a wide audience, including early-career engineers as well as mechanics, operators, sales representatives, consulting engineers and designers.

Engineered Software has published its first book, written by author and trainer Ray T Hardee, offering a comprehensive look at liquid piping systems and how they work.

"Piping system fundamentals: the complete guide to gaining a clear picture of your piping system" covers the main conditions affecting the operation of a piping systems, describing interactions between pumps, compressors, pipelines, control valves and other components.

The book is over 160 pages and has more than 140 images to aid in describing common parts found in piping systems.

"This book was a labor of love that sprung out of a huge need for a proper informative resource in this area", says author Ray Hardee, Chief Engineer at Engineered Software.

"This book was written on a topic that has been long ignored, and never has the whole system interplay been covered in a single, easy-to-read but comprehensive book".

The book should appeal to a wide range of audiences, including early-career engineers as well as mechanics, operators, sales representatives, consulting engineers and designers needing an overview or refresher on the operation of fluid piping systems.

Case studies and methods for making current piping systems more efficient are discussed in the book.

"The interest for this book has been so high that we pushed the release date forward from our earlier planned summer release date", says Michael Blondin, Vice President of Marketing and Sales.

"We are already in the works for a metric edition of "Piping system fundamentals", and plans for future publication titles from ESI Press are already being considered".

"The book has already been distributed to hundreds of delegates of the Piping System Fundamentals Training courses".

ESI Press, the publishing arm of Engineered Software, publishes books and training materials aimed at specific audiences whose interests are in piping systems, pumps, and components.

"Piping system fundamentals" is the first title to be published by ESI Press and is a companion book to the newest training offered under the same name by Engineered Software.

An online preview can be found on the company's website, and the book may be purchased online for US $95.

"We plan on this book being the beginning of a new legacy of learning that Engineered Software will extend to the future of engineering", says Blondin.

"We like to think of it as engineered learning, training and materials providing practical knowledge that can be easily applied".

The book is also included free with registration to a "Piping system fundamentals" training course, schedule available online.
