Boeing approves of trichloroethylene
alternative
EnSolv 5408, the unique, patented, alternative to trichloroethylene (Trike), has now been listed by Boeing as approved for use under its BAC 5408 requirements.

EnSolv 5408 is therefore the only n-propyl bromide based vapour-degreasing solvent approved by Boeing that meets the requirements of BMS11.11 (Boeing Material Specification).
This approval confirms the special properties of EnSolv 5408, which is available worldwide for all subcontractors of Boeing.

Vapour degreasing alternative
Alternative to trichloroethane and trichloroethylene is neither an ozone depleter nor a carcinogen and has gained Boeing and Airbus approval on top of critical cleaning performance.

EnSolv 5408 now provides the advanced technology so vital to support the aerospace industry.
It can be used on all the usual metals and virtually all plastics and elastomers common to aerospace.
As there is no chlorine in EnSolv 5408 (unlike Trike) the risk of metal embrittlement is greatly reduced.
EnSolv 5408 has proved safe for cleaning titanium, a widely used metal in aerospace.
One example of the advantage EnSolv 5408 provides is in cleaning aluminium honeycomb sections where epoxy resin adhesive is used to bond the formed aluminium skin to produce lightweight high tensile structures for applications such as leading edges of wings.
This is an extremely demanding application as any chemical residue prevents adhesion of adhesives to the substrate, leading to delamination with potential disastrous effects.
EnSolv 5408 leaves no measurable residue.
Also, in perhaps the most critical of all cleaning areas, oxygen and fuel line cleaning, EnSolv 5408 has proved to be a huge success.
By co-operating, both Boeing and Enviro Tech can be delighted by the outcome of testing.
EnSolv 5408 is now fully validated, where critical cleaning is required, as having stand-alone recognition as the leader in its field.
Users of trichloroethylene now have an alternative to the carcinogen for vapour degreasing.
Previously, in 2001, testing of EnSolv resulted in Airbus approval ABP 8-1294 for degreasing, making this a valuable choice for aerospace or any critical cleaning process.
